For me, between what Fred teaches and theroy of more of a traditional sense. So I have also been using fretboard theroy by Desi Serna. I am the kind of person that needs to know why, rsfg gives a way of playing guitar without having to be concearned with the why of theroy. Fretboard theroy gives me the why and helped me understand why music works the way it does. I have been doing a lot with the pentonic scales and fretboard theroy has been a awesome help and guide with that.
