Hi Fred,

Just got the book and been studying it about 10 minutes. I want to clarify some points on the spiral mapping. (1) Whenever the pattern ends on the 1st string and jumps back up to the 6th string, it appears as though you add one more of that pattern to the count (i.e., 4 triple blocks if the triple block ended on the 1st string and 3 head or bridge sets likewise).
(2) In your diagram, there is a downward shift on the third string at the 12th fret after the triple block - is this always the case no matter where the pattern starts?
(3) Does the pattern always start as you've diagrammed or can I start the pattern anywhere on the fretboard and just go? If so, how does that affect the shift on the 12th fret?

Starting in on the Jumping section now, I'll be back with more questions, I'm sure!! Thanx, Sheen

got it figured out, Fred. Turned out I misread the pattern and didn't notice that you drop a fret between the triple block and head set. Can't wait to work on the family of chords today!
